Dear Mitt Romney:

Today you're claiming that the REAL reason you cannot disclose your tax statements is because of your faith.

For that to be the case which of the following two things would have to be true:

1) Your father was not a member of the LDS;

2) The rules over disclosure have changed between 1968 and 2012.

If the latter, can you at LEAST tell us when this fundamental change in policy happened?   Unless it was "just a moment ago" can you explain why this "fundamental reason" didn't occur to you at any point in this campaign, or the campaign in 2008?

Speaking of past campaigns, if disclosing tax returns is so problematic for you because of church-related donations, why didn't it occur to you to offer the same courtesy to Ted Kennedy when you were running for his Senate seat?

To Sharon Barnes

Dear Congresswoman:

I find your claim that pregnancies that happen as a result of rape (approximately 5% of reported cases) are "blessings" interesting.

While I can understand that a child born from a rape is innocent of the violence and crime that brought him/her into the world, you didn't actually offer any plan to what should happen TO that child once he/she is born?

First, it was not the mother's choice to get pregnant.  You've already required her to carry the fetus to term, are you now simply expecting her to care for the child and raise it?   Who pays for that?

Are you also aware that in several states, the laws are written such that the rapist has parental "rights" to the child he conceived?   He can demand shared custody, visitation, AND a role in the decision-marking process for any subsequent adoption, etc.   Do you understand the impact this would have on the rape victim as she would have to re-live the experience over and over again for years?

Your goal to eliminate all abortions might stem from your beliefs, but you have in no way done anything to handle the real issues that your intentions create; all of which also have mandates within your chosen religion.

Please let us know how you intend to rectify the problem other than offering rather useless, ill-conceived, and harmful "opinions".

Would YOU like to save more on taxes? Mitt - show us how!

Dear Mr. Romney:

I am an American taxpayer.  Like you, I feel that while taxes are a necessary obligation, it only makes sense for one to minimize their personal tax burden.   You have implied that over the years you have done nothing inappropriate in organizing your tax returns.   Clearly, you have been successful in mitigating the highly-complicated tax code to do so, and I would list this as one of your talents in moneymaking, given that you are obviously an American success story in finance.

It pains me though, that you seem to be extremely reluctant to share your wisdom with the American people - the people you wish to lead as President of the United States.   As a leader is it not an obligation to lead through example?   Wouldn't we ALL benefit from learning from your expertise and experience on the matter of tax preparation?   I realize that my financial issues and concerns do not come close to the complexity that you suffer in preparing your taxes, but given that it is the dream of every American to prosper as you have, I'm certain that I would benefit from a greater understanding of how one should manage what money that have, and how to best use the existing tax code to retain as much of it as possible.

Would you please explain to me (and to all of us) why it is so important for you to not share what you know when doing so would influence us to support you more?   I would like to learn more so as to be a better American; who better to learn it from than a person who wants to be my leader?
